Program description
This program will provide students with the opportunity to learn and play a range of classical and folk percussion genres from different parts of India. This percussion includes classical drums (Hindustani and Carnatic) to folk drums of Middle-eastern origin but adapted in regional India. Students will learn how to recite, play, compose and improvise traditional rhythmic patterns and compositions via various percussion instruments played in Hindustani, Carnatic and other regional performance genres.
